1. As others said, you won’t lateral in as a Pl
2. You need a more compelling reason to switch. Is there a location/geography play you can spin (e.g. no McK office in the city) or a PA that is larger at BCG?

Everybody reads this and immediately sus alarms go off.
Op, you need a better story. Are you even being honest with yourself?
Primarily I‘m interested in a switch - Not getting PL is absolutely fine
What’s the real reason?
There is low chance that BCG will hire you in as PL when you are only Associate. At best, you parallel over.

This… seems really off. You’re almost certainly not going to get a PL role if you’re exiting as an ASC and if you’re unwilling to disclose why you’re leaving, most people (like here) will assume it’s because you were CTLed

You come up with a better story than “I want to learn a new way of consulting” but it’s going to be a very hard sell.
Worth asking yourself if consulting is truly what you want to do as well
Honest question, but are you really from here? Is so, which office?
We don't have 'consultant' as a position... At least not in the offices I've been

Honestly, it would be easier than jumping to BCG…
You get a lot more out of this firm once you realize you’re in charge of your own development, staffing, etc. rather than leaving it up to and then blaming PD and others.
Sounds like OP, you have a bunch of entities to blame for your situation - teams, EMs, PD, even Ombud. Have you maybe considered some self-reflection? Maybe all these entities are not really responsible for your situation. You also seem to be exhibiting inflexibility - if you truly feel you are stuck in a hopeless situation, then you would maybe interested in multiple options, and not just “I want to move to BCG”?
@OP--I mentioned other consultancies, not going to industry...and if you're dead set on going to BCG, so be it. But the very same forces that have prevented you from enjoying your time at McKinsey are also present at BCG--what's your strategy/leverage to manage them if you jumped over?
@OP what do you mean by"new consulting style"? As an MBB Alum, I don't think that exists.
Chief
Not differently enough to matter. Work with a different partner or EM and you'll get as much variety as if you switched to BCG.
A new consulting style?
Different to McKinsey:-)
You need a better story for us to hire you in as PL. it’s all about messaging!
What would you suggest?
I want to switch from BCG to McK. Principal -> AP. Help?
Best approach is probably either via referral or asking the local office recruiting contact (for experience hires)
