🐠 ies, how can one gain experience managing people when i don't have any direct reports? I got rejected by a position because of this, i was more than perfect for the position in every other way. What can i change about myself that makes me come off as a leader so i can get these kinds of positions?

I have been working the same position for 5 years. But our job title has changed a few time I went from a pre registration rep to a verification specialist during my time there I want to branch out but not sure where to go from here. I have a bachelors in Health Science. 5 years experience dealing with patients, insurance, referral, data entry, etc.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
