My understanding is that T2s recruit from pretty much the same pool for MBAs as MBB.
Correct. Strong presence at ~T15 schools like MBB has, then falls off after that (recruiting specialists not generalists, only some offices recruiting, not all firms doing OCR).
Our list of top target schools (in term of recruiting effort) started a bit randomic (e.g. an MD was an alumnus) and has been fine-tuned over the years based on how much we liked the candidates, and the response that we got in terms of applications. Our current “top” list has Chicago Booth, Kellog, Columbia, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon and Darden. This does not mean that if you are from another top 20 MBA we will like you less, but our people won’t be on campus so it may be a bit harder to be noticed / stand out among other candidates.
Good response. In addition to those schools, Duke was our best performing school for restructuring, but I don’t think they recruit for EI there.
We don’t really do as much recruiting for MBAs. But if our MBA sponsorship list is any indication, we mostly stick to M7s and a few others (Dartmouth, Yale, Ross, a few others)
Given that T2 firms are smaller, they’re much more targeted at a few of the ~T20 schools for OCR. Kearney, from what I can tell, focuses at Booth, CBS, Kellogg, Ross and Tepper.
Not as important to go to top school. Go to school in city with office..network. get interview.prep for case..start at least a year before graduation
Ranking always matters
