All I can say is WOW. Pretty serious offense, regardless of magnitude. Not sure OP seems remorseful enough or has grasped the magnitude if s/he is asking about "if the firm will forget in a bit". Nuts.
HR makes a check for any prior violations. I've ensured that they are especially diligent as it appears there's someone trying to bluff their way into a rehire. I've reached out to a couple of colleagues in non-Partnership firms and alerted them to this. They're following up with their HR.
Someone got fired and now they're trying to falsify their way back in. Speaks to integrity, fidelity and voracity. I don't want someone with a compromised ethical compass in a firm that I'm an owner of. It's that simple.

There are way too many EY consultants on this thread. #QualityOverQuantity
Guys, it's simple: ask yourself how a client would react if they looked at your expenses closely. "It says here they are giving someone money on square and also loading up Starbucks gift cards." Does that sound kosher? Then don't do it.
Watching these millennial partners is so adorable lol
The point of expensing something is to be repaid for a business required expense. If you expense a friend picking you up, what are you getting repaid for? The firm is not your personal piggy bank
Some of the posts on here are disturbing. Starbucks card reloads??? Surely you understand that's just moving $ from one account to another and shouldn't be an EXPENSE until something is actually purchased with the $$ on the Starbucks card, right?
I don’t see why paying a friend is “not kosher”. If you are PAYING them the same $30 that you would pay an Uber, then what’s wrong? Why is it OK to hand over $30 to a random cab driver but not to somebody else just because you know them?
what kind of expense violation are you talking about? did not you get warned or something?
How large was your expense violation. That info helps
OP, I told you that if you tried to expense that gender reassignment surgery that somebody would notice.
I assume it's something like paying a licensed, insured, tax paying professional vs slipping your mate some cash.
Lol. Did not get a warning.. just got let go. But my question still remains :) what if it's a different service line and office? Do they keep close comms?
100% blacklisted
Can you provide magnitudes ten, hundreds, thousands, and for what category
Shit, I get sketched out hoping my per diems aren't a little high. Big balls OP.
Yeah I think it's good to let others know. Expenses are not always black and white. What's the magnitude?
@E5, The Rhino doesn't show up as such on CC statements, it's something like "SRC Entertainment"
P2: I don't understand your statement
@Managr4 The CEO Mount Rushmore. Excellent idea. They definitely have time for the entire thread. But for reals, I've seen the car service thing too, and it resulted in a firing as well even though it was just a friend as a legitimate side job.
OP what did you do? I've also seen that if you're a top performer some of these things are a slap on the wrist instead of a write up.
@D12 I am consistently amazed at the small amounts people will risk a lucrative career over
