If you have a few co-workers as friends on FB, and post your political preference for the election, can you get fired / let go? I didn't discuss with anyone, just posted a couple obvious links.

Is this a real question? Are we bring punked?

like

Neither do I... you sound like a douche lol

like

You're in your 40s and you call people morons for asking questions. I feel sorry for the people who work on your engagement team, lol

like

Your friend is either punking you or is also a moron.

like

How is a political preference grounds for firing?

like

You could get fired. Free speech is only about government censorship. A private company can do whatever they want.

like

Yo, OP. No, posting your preference cannot get you fired. Being an idiot and discussing politics AT work or WITH clients can get you fired. Hostile work environment etc. That being said, if you're worried, just block your coworkers from those posts. That's what privacy settings are for.

like

@D1, look at D2's comment. Apparently not everyone agrees with you, and there's no point in calling people morons. How old are you anyway, under 25? I want an answer from someone with experience in office politics, not some kid who thinks they know all the answers.

like

Yes, 25 ... in 2000

like

Political preference isn't a protected class, so yes. I have a few trump supporter friends who have been absolutely torn apart for their political choice and a couple in the entertainment industry did lose their jobs. You should be fine if you are a Clinton supporter though. I know some Clinton supporters who live in the Deep South and while Trump supporters disagree, they don't go out of their way to silence then

like

Oh you're 100% fine

like

You definitely need not worry that you'd receive backlash for supporting Clinton unless your office is on a factory floor or deep in a coal mine, and even then the violence trend this cycle is heavily favored against Trump supporters, not the other way around.

like

Is this question for real? Tell me it's a joke and you really aren't asking this... by the way you're just fine.

like

😊Who ever told you you were in trouble is just messing with you. Happy Halloween 🎃

That's what I thought... then a friend of mine freaked me out with a similar story.

like

Did you post something that is dumb or conspiracist fodder? I don't see why it would be such a big problem unless it's something ridiculously stupid.

like

You're fine. That doesn't sound like a problem unless your coworkers are bitchy ass trump apologists.

like

Not a joke. The partners I work for are outspoken Trump supporters. Thx guys

I would never post things too political for the same reasons.

Boomer. I am in between jobs. Laid off in 10/21 after 16+ yrs, with an ABA firm. RIF. Still on excellent terms. Took my time living off generous package and didn’t seriously start applying until 01/22. Made a rookie mistake and accepted first offer.
Turns out job wasn’t as advertised. Mutual parting of ways 3/22. Due diligence is critical.
Now interviewing a LOT. Some temp work, I still have “it”. I relate to all gens. Willing to mentor AND learn from all. Tech savvy, CTE from day one. Leads?

Does Globant terminates the employment of certain trainees after their probation(3 Months) based on their performance in the training period? Some of the fresher trainees were laid off this morning without giving a notice or reason.

We were told that the probation period is a training period & not an elimination one. It was shocking as a few of those trainees were actually good.

Hi,
As of now I got into PIP so does it indirectly means that i will be fired.?

Do you take the current economy into consideration when receiving job offers? For example you receive a good offer from a company like Meta/TikTok but are hesitant because they could be laying off soon or rescind an offer versus a lower offer at a more traditional and stable company that tends to be less reactionary with regards to layoffs? Not my current scenario but just curious. I would like to make a move from current employer but this economy has me spooked.

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I'm still bringing money in as a software engineer, but I'm looking for advice on how to support a partner who has been laid off. Ultimately I think we will be ok, but I know he's hurting / stressed / and could use a supportive partner.

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞
