Why do capable people get laid off/fired? And plenty of mediocre people thrive in corporate environments?
On the bench and your cc emails you to set up an in person meeting about your “career at Accenture”....should I put my two weeks notice now or get laid off? 🤷🏻♂️
Does anyone have any books/media to recommend on being an Asian in the USA / UK (and particularly being East or Southeast Asian)? Have just finished Big Little Man (Alex Tizon) and Severance (Ling Ma) both of which were excellent and captured a lot of complex feelings I hadn’t been able to put into words before...
When the person behind you is on the phone telling 'Gary' and 'Juda' to be honest with him about getting fired...
Does anyone else struggle with being on the bench? It's been 4 weeks and it's starting to take a toll on me. How do you cope? Scared of being fired! Being passed over for analysts with more experience
Through periods of unemployment, I took a couple years to travel around the country. If anyone gets laid off during these rough times, try to take advantage of the situation to make some memories.
Feel like every time I make a mistake and catch it later I’m going to get a PIP or getting fired. How do you deal with mistakes and negative review comments.
Is it sad that I hate my agency so much I dream of getting fired? Because it would be better than working here while searching elsewhere?
I took on some freelancing (different work than my full time job) for something that was a bit out of my comfort zone. I was upfront about it, and the client was patient, but I just got fired. (Cont)
Got laid off mid April and just accepted an offer at Deloitte. I’ve had so much anxiety over trying to find a job during this pandemic and I’m glad to put my mind at ease!
AdAge really needs to do more background checks on these agencies. How does an agency layoff 20% of its people and make the A-list? Stretching the truth much? Good grief.
For people that lived through the last recession how were job cuts made? Number of hours? I assume no one hit their hours that year except the bankruptcy boys. Any particular experience level at risk?
Due to Covid & a new VP, everything is changing at my company & senior reps are being micromanaged like new hires. Seniors are quitting and being fired like nothing I’ve ever seen. Anyone else?
For H1B jobseekers: my transfer application was approved when filed within 60 days from severance rather than 60 days from termination date. Just my experience, may not work for all. Good luck to everyone job searching in such difficult times.
Over the last few months I’ve seen a lot of staff/seniors quit and move to other jobs. Is this normal for this time? I feel like everyone I know is worried about not being laid off but here I see people dropping like flies. What’s going on? Side note if you are in audit and need a job contact me. 😂
I’m feeling incredibly upset and depressed. I’m at a job I hate, even though I know I should be grateful to still be employed. I had an offer for a job I really wanted pre-corona that recently rescinded their offer due to lack of demand. Then I had 2 interviews this summer so far, and both rejected me :/ even though I spent so much time preparing. I feel hopeless and stuck. I don’t know how to get out of this state and be motivated to apply again. Or just be content with where I’m at. Advice?
United Health Care or Cigna? Which would you choose for your benefits when considering having a child?
TFW the pain of starting the day after 4 hrs sleep is eased by an enormous, new, super soft and fluffy Heavenly bath towel. Westin FTW.
For staff II who don’t get promoted to senior(seems rare at my office but does happen), do you think those individuals knew, or should have known that they were not being promoted?/how would they know
10 years total experience. 3 years experience as AD in a small-ish market but prior to that was all big agency experience in a top market. What salary would you expect?
Two years out of undergrad, in risk advisory at a B4. Interested in switching to more of a tech implementation role at a place like Deloitte. Any tips to make the transition?
Following a first round interview with PE funds, I’ve had recruiters reach out and ask my thoughts on how the conversation went, *before* telling me if I made it to the next round. Why do they do this? I always feel like, ‘idk, you tell me how I did’?
Does anybody know the quarantine procedure for international arrivals to New Delhi? I am planning to get my visa stamping by going for 2 weeks only! Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Have you ever suggested a male colleague present your pitch to a client you know to have historically shown resistance to ideas presented by women because you just really want to win the work?
Has anybody from Deloitte on H1b were able to get approval from the firm to file an amendment from Consular Processing to COS due to Covid?
How much time it’s taking for H1B transfer in premium processing recently? My base has been filled today..
Is it possible to raise a family if both parents are in Consulting? I feel our industry does not really support the idea of raising kids while working. This gets more difficult if both parents are in consulting (60+ hours per week, travel, constant pressure to move up, Sales targets, etc.) thoughts? Any good examples out there of working parents in Consulting?
