Did 4 rounds of interviews. Last 2 with 2 partners at EY. Haven’t heard back even after 1 month. One partner even commented “you will be a good addition to the team”. Hiring manager gave EY email after her interview call with me.
Fast forward two weeks, no communication. Recruiting was surprised that I was still chasing for this position, month later. Got to know last week that hiring team was continuing to interview candidates. Should I drop the idea to get hired? EY hasn’t rejected me yet.

The book gets you the interview, the interview gets you the job.
This. It’s tough because not everyone has had the same opportunities. But it’s so competitive right now. There are a ton of great people looking.
But your book is the one thing you have total control over (even if you don’t have the same advantages as people who fall into great opportunities early in their career). So if your book doesn’t have it, it’s easy for people to wonder if you do.
Then you have to show your interviewer that you did that work- and can keep doing it. That you’re excited by the job, concepting or leading or whatever it is at that level.
If you get a chance to talk to someone with enough seniority to take a chance on you, you might be able to talk past a mediocre book. But with the gate keeping that normally happens, that can be tough.
It's hard for me to get interviews because my book is not wow. Some stuff, but nothing top notch. But once I get the interview I normally do well. Getting the job is multi factorial, sometimes others with better book do equally well, sometimes the role is cancelled... But I've got many jobs over the years thanks to being a good interviewee.
I’m a bad interviewer. They always say they love my portfolio, super impressed with the work etc… but I often blow it in an interview because I can be very nervous and awkward depending on the vibe of the interviewer.
I have worked at places that hired CDs/ECDs with ok portfolios because they prob did very well selling themselves during the interview.
