I remotely manage a team that’s about the same size. Most folks wanted a weekly one on one, as I gave them the choice between biweekly and weekly. With teams chats and the like as well I feel like it’s pretty easy to keep up without feeling like you’re micromanaging. Two cents. Good luck!
I think a weekly team meeting is important to have- but also set aside time to do a biweekly or monthly one on one with each employee.
Agreed. My team is in a remote situation, but weekly team meetings, bi-weekly 1on1’s and open teams chats work really well for us.
Weekly 1:1’s if they want it, but mainly teams chats. Just pop in once a day to ask how they’re doing and what you can help with. That goes a long way. And 8 is not that much, you can manage that. Remember, your job is to support your team. Not to just find time for your team.

I have group chats with my teams and also do team meetings every Monday. The heads of my departments also have their weekly meetings with their staff.
