I honestly just think people are so frustrated any time they have to call customer service. They are often taking a break out of their busy days to resolve a problem that is frustrating/overwhelming to them. So when they encounter problems on the phone they just get even more aggravated. Always good to just stay as calm as possible with them.
I concur with CSR1, many people are already churned up before they speak with you. Do your best to remain calm with them, and I find it helpful to tell customers what you “can” do for them. Something as simple as offering to transfer them, versus giving them the number to call, can go over well.
I think because most people call customer service with a problem that they probably want fixed then and there and it frustrates them that they don't know who to go to help fix their problem
They are probably just projecting their own frustration onto someone else because they didn't call the right people. I think.
