Just curious - what are your MBA peers doing in big tech?
Strategy? Operations? Product?
Strategy and operations pay slows down after a while and are treated as second class citizens relative to the tech ladder. I’d personally only choose PM at a select few places over MBB.
When I think of big tech, I usually think of FAAMG (FB, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Google). You’re probably not getting a PM position at Apple just given they have very few. Google and Facebook require deep technical expertise (think CS major in undergrad and coding abilities), Amazon PM is usually on par with BCG hours and Microsoft PM is probably the most feasible from a traditional MBA background but way more operational than product
Very cool! Hoping to make the shift to tech myself in the next few years - working in tech investing rn after 2 years at BCG and multiple swe internships in undergrad
It really depends on the stock market. Im 4 years out of bschool and my peers in tech beat me real bad due to the stockmarket rally. Im not sure if thats going to repeat.. i certainly
Dont expect amazon to do a 3x rally again..

AMZN may not but any of these up and comers almost certainly will:

Will you be able to enter a tech company at a higher level than your peers that did tech right out of business school? Genuinely curious
