I'm a lawyer with about 2 years of experience in a rural municipality who is getting an interview for a rural electrical cooperative. I didn't have a ton of responsibility at my last job beyond contracts, currently I am in a practice adjacent role and looking to get back into practice. I would be the only lawyer at the organization, I'm interested but also a bit terrified.

I wish you the best of luck.

I would need more context to answer your question. For example:

1.) If your contract job was your very first job, It'll be a steep learning curve and I'd advise you find mentors.

2.) If you're backfilling the role (as opposed to them creating a whole new position), you could also do it. If it's a brand new role, I think it would be really hard.

3.) How willing are they to give you wiggle room to learn? (both with mistakes and paying for CLEs to help catch you up)

Ultimately it's up to both you and your potential employer to figure out if you've got the right fit. I would make sure to ask very specific questions in your interview to gauge culture and how much support you'll be getting from your employer.

If they're supportive and you're willing to put in the work (and work with a mentor), you could do very well and gain great experience.

Hi Fishes,
I am having 4.6 + years of experience as a Manual test engineer and already frustrated with it.
In these years, I haven't learn any technical skills.
Though , I am very good at handling clients, planning and at other required stuffs.
But all these are soft skills which doesn't directly contributed to my resume.

I need your suggestion that which technical skills I can learn online? Has anyone changed their career from testing to BI ( Power BI / Tableau ) ?

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?

CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?

Motions
I work in a midsize firm and we have the basic subscription to westlaw, which doesn’t include the ability to see filed briefs, motions, etc without incurring additional costs. I’m wondering if there is a service in the NJ/PA area that gives you access to previously filed motions and briefs? So if I’m drafting a summary judgment I could search the service and find a similar one. If this doesn’t exist.. I think I found the next million dollar idea lol
