It’s a difficult move to traditional. At that level you’ll need to prove you can manage and sell work - requires some risk from the PPMDs who sponsor you. Recommend exploratory conversations w/ managers and SMS doing the role you’re interested in before approaching senior leadership. Frankly, it’s easier to move to another firm.
Yes - think of it from a firm POV similar to the promotion cycle. What’s the business case? Is it robust and low risk? How can this help increase revenue and make my life easier?
I’ve been encouraged by PPMD to make this move and honestly as with most things at Deloitte, it seems to be all about your relationships. If you have the right people on your side, the firm will make the move happen. The right story helps (having sales, client relationships, proposal work etc on top of normal PDM work). Whether you can or want to handle Traditional and moving up through the levels that way is something only you can answer.
Right, I have been working to create that perception, especially taking on a client that has caused us high attrition. Strategy for me is to build that love, trust, and relationship to secure the project for renewal. This will be a hell of a snapshot for annual renewal and case for PPMD.
