You are underpaid at KPMG. the recruiter lowballed you.

I’m a senior 3 in Chicago tax at $90k...

like

You don’t want to work here.

funnylike

Both are low. I was an experienced hire a while back and was at $100k as a senior. Granted this was pre-Covid but I think you were underpaid as a senior 2 as well. I would jump to industry at the manager level. Probably could get closer to $120k if you find the right place. Just a thought if you want to stay in tax.

like

76k as senior 3 in Chicago? Is that S2 salary with no raise this year which would make more sense...but the accounting role was low for sure. Btw why do you think you cannot be promoted

like

76k even for a S1 sounds like a bad deal to me. Sure you could find a better paid job with your experience. I know A2s making 75k in tax

Time to jump to a new big 4.

like

Yikes. i just made senior 1 and make 75K .

That’s in line (slightly above) with small cities at EY for a new Senior 3 with no progression raise.

Yikes. I am an associate 2 and I’m making just about the same.

I’m an A3 in Chicago making $75,000...

Seems low, but obviously there's the "covid impact"

I honestly think you can do better. Maybe negotiate your salary if you really like the company and can see yourself working well with them. You should set a minimum amount that you're comfortable with and not settle for anything less. It seems like it's not an ideal offer, otherwise you'd jump right on it. 🤷‍♀️ I understand you are burned out and want to leave asap, but kpmg would probably be able to offer you better job security atm. If the company doesn't budge, Id personally stay back and look for something else.

like

Agreed thank you! I will hang on until I recieve a reasonable offer seeing as I'm already underpaid, I can't afford to lose my opportunity to bank on my Big 4 years when jumping from public accounting.

Seems low on both sides, and sorry for being blunt, have you had performance issues? Also, I’d find a new recruiter. There are thousands of them out there.

The increase of non promotional year is absurd
