Practice makes perfect. And you never know, they might just win you over.
(No interview = no options)
1) Because no-one ever exaggerated their skills on LinkedIn...
2) I’m fucking with you. Take the interview. If it’s that awesome a job you’ll find a way to make Phoenix work. If it’s not, fuck it, they paid for you to fly to Phoenix...
You have to keep in mind that certain recruiters are just not very good. They'll hit you up, get your resume and then it won't go anywhere because people in the know (e.g. the hiring manager) will look at the resume and quickly see it's not a fit
^ this.
i got hit up to be CTO, apparently some random recruiters trying to cast a wide net
Found out? They hit me up on LinkedIn. I didn’t hide anything
No harm in interviewing... you get an offer — you have options!! #winning!!!
A2 - for external recruiters I personally look at two things: their experience and how tailored or conversely scattershot their reach out seems. On experience - a lot of people get into headhunting and quickly flame out if they aren't good, so I try to stay away from them mostly. If their reach out also seems like copy and paste to 50 other people I try to stay away as well. Internal recruiters are a different story, but I would still be sceptical if a role didn't seem to fit with my experience. I'm all for quality over quantity, but am I really in a position to succeed having 30+ direct reports as a senior director if I've never more than 3 people before for example.
You’re a senior consultant getting offered a senior director role at F100? I’m calling BS. Either that or you’re using Phoenix as an excuse to chicken out because you know you’ll get found out at interview... #goadingyouintogoingforit
Just don’t wanna burn bridges since I knew it’s in Phoenix all along and I wanna stay in California
2.5 years at Accenture out of undergrad and I got hit up by a recruiter (spoke to recruiter and partner of recruitment firm) for a senior manager (internal consulting group) role. I was very transparent - I have experience, but Accenture is my first full-time job and I’m only 2 years out of undergrad. His point was “quality over quantity.” Ok, let’s see what the hiring manager thinks. Not missing out on anything if I submit a resume
P1- how do you filter through bad recruiters?
Resumes are being presented tomorrow... I’m supposed to hear back by next week. I’ll keep you posted, but I would assume that this is more than a stretch role. If it goes anywhere, I’ll definitely maintain my honesty around my experiences - I’m not trying to set myself up for failure and can’t set yourself up for success if it’s too stretch of a role.
It’s not really an external recruiter. It’s a recruiter internally within the F100’s specialized sourcing group
Honeywell is a great company. Good luck
Dude....
@A2 what did the hiring manager think? You get filtered out by the hiring manager?
First solar ?
2.5 years in and I got contacted by a recruiter to be a partner at a consulting firm lol
