Expecting parent, 35yo, NW of $1.2M with investment property in my hometown in Europe near family & friends (mortgage is less than $1k). Current expenses in Bay Area is 5K a month, probably more once baby comes.
Thinking of leaving Bay Area in 2 years and semi-retire for a few years in Europe, focusing on parenting and freelancing.
Any thoughts on this plan? Anything I should be aware of?

Back in May 2021, I rented a property that had sustained damage during the big snow storm. This wasn't disclosed at lease signing. The home leaked every time it rained, mold was found in the home & the LL failed to make repairs that resulted in me falling down a flight of stairs. Been in Seattle for ~1 year and something I’ve observed is the constant s*it-talking of the city from the locals. Is this because they haven’t experienced other places? While the current homelessness in the city needs to be handled, crime is still relatively low compared to other major cities. The complaints about gloominess also seems a bit dramatic. When calculating YOE, if you are working 2 jobs, can you double count those years? For reference, I’ve been an Army Reserves officer for the last 5 years since coming off active duty, and spend about 30-40 hours per month (outside of 2-4 week annual training) on that job.
