I’m a tax senior wanting to pivot into a financial analyst role. I understand I’ll have to take a pay cut and will essentially be starting from zero. What can I do to make myself more marketable for this role? I was considered courses on sql, tableau, maybe python but even entry level positions seem to require 1-2 years experience. Any advice?

I think I made a faux pas during a discussion with a recruiter when asked what my salary expectations were. I KNOW not to give my number first but I was so caught off guard by the question since it was our initial discussion that I just blurted out a range. is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?

Why does everyone say the work in FDD is so much better than audit? I’ve been in the group for a few months now, and it seems to be just as bad if not worse.

I’m in FDD… I know I signed up for this but there’s something about the anxiety that comes on a Friday knowing that we still didn’t get access to VDR .. and how that anxiety grows as you enter the long weekend knowing that access can happen at any minute (or not) and you have to tippy-toe on the idea of potentially cancelling on your memorial weekend plans. I know the unpredictability of our job but phew 😮‍💨
