Heyhey.
Looking to hire a product UX/designer to freelance and help design + run ideation workshops for our Fortune 100 client looking to drive innovation and create/incubate b2c apps.
Would be great if you also knew how to set up an intake form to get a specific brief in order to design the workshop.
Bonus if you know how to design and set-up early stage usability experiments via landing pages/figma to validate problems/solutions before developing a MVP.

UX and UI are not the same thing. UX isnât just designing interfaces... it actually involves a lot of user research, usability testing, mapping out journeys, creating personas, etc. The âdesignâ and wireframes are just a small part of the process. If youâre more of a visual person, Iâd suggest pursuing UI design which deals more with the layouts, colors, typography, graphics, etc.
In terms of transitioning, youâll definitely need a portfolio with UX work. They donât have to be real projects... you can pick an existing website that you want to redesign to produce some âdeliverablesâ and write about your process. Most people will just want to see the thinking behind your design choices. Youâll probably have to apply for entry level roles (I also transitioned and had to go from mid back to junior) but the pay is still pretty decent and itâll give you the opportunity to grow.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
I assume you have plenty of design experience as an AD, so I wouldnât necessarily start with âentry levelâ UX roles. To me, an entry level UX role is someone without design experience. I would go for mid-level at least and work to gain more UX experience. Yes, UX is a different way of thinking but itâs problem solving.. same as design, just a different way of going about it! Iâm in a similar boat as you, except I went from senior graphic designer to UX designer within the same company (much easier transition I imagine). I think youâll find that your design experience will easily translate to this role and your hiring managers will see that if you showcase problem solving skills in your portfolio. All the best!
Thank you both!! Extremely helpful đ
