I say take the job. Pregnancy is a fact of life, not a liability. Anyone at any time could walk away from a job for a whole host of reasons. You are providing a skill they need, they will pay you. You’re good. May is a long time away.
If the end date is prior to your due date, I would absolutely not mention it.
Take it! We spend too much time worrying about what other people will think. I’m guilty of it too and I continually have to remind myself to stop. A man wouldn’t think twice about it.
Also, if you prove yourself between now and then, and develop a good relationship there, they’ll likely want you back after mat leave. I’ve had two kids and maternity leave always seems like it’ll be so long but it’s over in a flash and when you’re back in the mix, things will probably be pretty close to where you left them!
Good advice. There’s no guarantee they will extend anyway.
If they are only starting the contract at a couple months they are protecting their butts to let you go earlier than they are promising. You owe them nothing! Just give them notice a few weeks before the end of the contract so they can be prepared to backfill and you shouldn’t burn bridges
