I’m back to having no billable work again. My department almost completely dried up when covid started, so I’ve been relying on work from other busy departments at my firm to keep me busy since March. I feel like I start a new job every couple of weeks and am constantly begging for work. I’m just exhausted. Can anyone else relate?

Same... except that we don’t get work from other departments. I pick up some pro bono here and there, but I’ve stopped begging for work. I’ve already told everyone that I’m slow and they’re agreed to keep me in mind when they have appropriate tasks.

like

Same here. I've started taking three day weekends (not that there's anywhere to go) and not sitting in front of my laptop just waiting for work. Our FY ends 10/31 and I know I'm not hitting the next bonus tier, so I'm considering this month a semi-vacation.

I’m sorry, that’s such a difficult spot. I hope you are job hunting. Don’t be afraid to be somewhat honest in interviews that the work level was not up to your expectations or something like that. Hiring people know what that means - that work is simply slow and you’re not leaving a firm because you screwed up or something.

Same, and I’m not joking...I’m in a bankruptcy department 😑

I'm accepting an offer with a new company... Start in early Aug. Senior Manager role, though in this company that equates to Manager at most consulting farms. They did not had hunt me. I came to them for the job.

I have COVID delayed vacations planned for the last week in August and the first week in October.

Should I just cancel one of them? Or should I at least put both on the table and see what they say? They're going to hire me either way, but I wonder if it's a bad start to ask for both.

Hi
My husband and I just went through a few very difficult months. His mother passed after an aggressive disease and struggle, we had another family member pass, Covid, political climate, +. Just under the surface we are so sad. We have a very easy baby but a young child is still demanding. We are not motivated to work and I can’t figure out how to return to “normal.” I am not pulling my weight at work and generally can’t imagine being motivated like I was. Please send advice.

Deloitte India vs Deloitte USI.
Please answer if you have worked for both and have significant first hand experience about the difference in WLB, annual hikes, work culture, any other observations.
I see a lot in of this same discussion but very confusing and repetitive answers.
So would like people with personal experience to answer.
Thanks in advance 😃

How do firms calculate how much parental leave to provide, either paid or unpaid. Or do they just pick a number, like “yeah they can get to know their kid in a few weeks and I couldn’t possibly have that attorney out for 12 weeks?” I’m at a small firm, no FMLA or state requirement.
