My husband and I just went through a few very difficult months. His mother passed after an aggressive disease and struggle, we had another family member pass, Covid, political climate, +. Just under the surface we are so sad. We have a very easy baby but a young child is still demanding. We are not motivated to work and I can’t figure out how to return to “normal.” I am not pulling my weight at work and generally can’t imagine being motivated like I was. Please send advice.

How do you approach a stinky middle school kid or their parents with hygiene suggestions? I don’t know how to politely tell anyone that they smell bad.

Soooo how are we feeling about booking flights to Europe for early spring? Less so worried about getting covid as I’m boosted but more so about worsening restrictions. I’m looking at countries that have already announced they aren’t changing restrictions BUT the flights have layovers in countries that are (ie UK, France, Germany). Also wondering when to book as prices for those flights seem to be skyrocketing.

I’m currently an associate (no kids) in a very busy corp group (think 50-60 billable weekly). My wife works significantly less (currently part time, 10-15, but hopefully will be full time soon). I find myself getting upset when asked to help with basic household things (trash, cooking etc.) when she’s been lounging around watching Netflix all day. Am I being reasonable or am I a misogynist? I got really emotional after I read the article in bloomberg about it. We can finally have some justice in a country where people have often tried to downplay racism against asians. I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

I recently accepted a position with a new org. One of the benefits I asked about with offer was the parental leave policy and was told (in writing by HR) 16 weeks paid after 1 year, which is as good as you can hope for in US. Now I’ve been sent the employee handbook to review/sign and it says only 12 weeks, which is less than the org I’m leaving. What might my recourses be to negotiate 16 weeks when the time comes? Also, should I be viewing this is a red flag?

Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different.
