Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

You sound like an ass
If this makes you mad, working in an agency (where, newsflash, basically nothing goes your way) might be a little too challenging.

All looks good to me 😋
If you think they made you out to look like an ass without hearing that explicitly from anyone, you probably just subtly know that you come off like an ass. The recruiter screen is as much a part of the process as any other interview step.
In general, when things are going well the conversation will last longer. If I’m scheduled for 30 minutes and we’re still chatting an hour later, that’s a positive signal. Why would you view a longer conversation as a waste of time? If it’s because you believe that the recruiter has no power, you are making a big mistake. You need to make friends with—and make a good impression on—everyone at every level.
this also seems like OP lol

My thoughts too!!
Honestly you sound like a child based on your responses. Grow up and get rid of your ego, you haven’t earned that right.
Always remember this, especially in this industry - nothing is personal. There will be more and maybe even better opportunities. If you think what you said was misconstrued, think about the way you said it. Could you answer differently next time?

How’s OP’s book? I really want to know who OP is…

Are you sure you are ready for agency life?
I feel like we’re missing a step here. How did they make you look like an ass?
If that’s the case, then judging by the responses I’m seeing from OP thus far, I think I understand why. I didn’t get a clear answer to my question either! 😂
Some agencies had layoffs today — maybe the recruiter found out the position was cut. Give them some grace, it might not be about you at all.
And it begins. Which agencies?
And how do you know this? Do you have someone on the inside who told you verbatim what the recruiter said?
Consider getting some professional coaching. It’s apparent that you are not ready for the ad industry. Frustrating job hiring practices are the tip of the iceberg. But it can be a great career for those who hone both hard and soft skills. I agree with the advice of writing a thank you note.
long road ahead for you…

It's pretty easy to advance past a recruiter screen. Were you heavy breathing or something?
I’m a mouth breather. Sorry.

Know who the team is? Reach out and connect with them. Just don’t mention the recruiter and say you heard of a role and want to chat.
Or! Take it as a lesson, do self reflection and try somewhere else.

Oh, well expand your prospects then.
Is this also you??? I feel like you should really consider therapy. You sound like a narcissist.

Definitely a sarcastic post
Is this post you, too, OP? Has a similar vibe. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_e559acpeow
These are def all the same person bc they don’t know how to reply to a thread

There are also instances when the CDs are too nice to be negative and let the recruiters be the messenger...
I think your problem is ligma. You just need more of it.
Ok so from junior to junior it happens all the time. Never take it personally. Every agency has a style and a personality. Even if they think you have good ideas you might not fit in. Also try to have an open mind abut feedback people in this industry are rude AF
consider that you might, indeed, be an ass
