She can claim any time spent outside the country during this 6yr period for extended H1B if she is looking for additional time till she figures her situation out. I think EY is the same, you need to be in the firm atleast for a year prior to GC processing. But they may have some flexibility there.
Agreed. A couple point: (1) PwC requires 6 mths for new hires but we have waived for ppl we want. EY/Deloitte might too? (2) PwC policy is to initiate 2 years prior to expiration so hate to point this out but leadership decided no last fall. LCA & filing stuff typically is at least a year.
You are a principal, please don't be an embarrassment to that title.
For a "friend"
Principal 'Bossman', let him/her be. Already tensed...
Oh boy. Jump. GC trumps everything else. Promotion be damned. I got my gc and can now tell employers to fuck off.
It can't be op. Op you get two 3 year h-1 terms, and after the 6th year get an extension only if the gc application has been approved and you are waiting for the gc date. I got a 7th year extension. There is zero point in staying at PwC without the GC in the bag. Good luck. And Principal 1 you are likely a privileged white male troll. Let her be.
I've suggested switching to another big 4 any getting the title. Does anyone know if her visa would get another 3 year extension if she transfers?
Switch firms/go to industry with first condition being GC sponsorship. Most of the big tech/healthcare/retail companies sponsor GC.
That's really shitty of her leadership
She got passed up for manager EY2, and multinational managers need company sponsorship.
How long does it take to get the I140?
Xx
Is she into her 6th year on h1b? If so, she needs an approved I140 before her 6th year ends
@D1 is right. She's going to struggle - Deloitte requires minimum 6 months, and a completed performance review, for GC sponsorship. Sounds like this... friend may need to spend a year out of the country and return on a fresh H1B.
P1, yes it is for a friend. I would have no qualms saying it if it were for me especially given FB's anonymity.
D1, she gets into her 6th in September and does not have nor would have an I140 given her leadership's refusal to move on the GC process.
There are other companies who are often willing to immediately start the green card process, but they need to be that desperate.
Grad school is a third option. She'd get into grad school before the h-1 expires, and can then get new opt with the f-1. She should consult an immigration attorney.
D1 - you are right. Microsoft is one of them.
Then quit. Find another manager position. Transfer in and out. Still quicker. It's not worthy to sell your life to a company who doesn't care about yours
