Resentful for what? Just wondering
Yes, exactly this.
While there are good teachers who took the back door into the profession through alternative/emergency certification, I've hired a lot of teachers, and I've found that the ones who are actually certified tend to be competent far more often.
That said, I don't resent teachers on emergency certs. I resent a government policy of underfunding education that's forced us to use emergency certifications because we can't hire enough fully qualified teachers.

There was a shortage and you showed up. Why on earth should they be resentful? I mean, if they don't think you're a real teacher, or something like that, just ignore them. They should be happy someone stepped up.
It’s understandable to feel that way. Teachers are under a lot of pressure right now, and the shortage has only added to that. Some might be feeling resentful, but that’s more about the broader circumstances. I’m sure most teachers understand you’re doing your best—it’s a tough job all around.
I doubt they are resentful unless you are walking around bragging that you didn’t have to do all the extra work (not saying you are). Most likely you’re fairly new and people are getting to know you and they are tired
It varies individually. I’m personally grateful people are stepping up. It’s making a difference.
My grievance at this moment are admin, being micro-managed, and the ever-growing list of untenable expectations.

I doubt ppl are resentful bc of that …maybe? If anything, the passion someone has for ‘whatever’ job /vocation/profession/whatever you want to call it, can be inherently really hard to fight off. It doesn’t just go away and often drives the individual to learn more, do more; keeps the individual invested and motivated to keep moving forward.
If there’s resentment I think it’s about something else. Everyone is resentful of something working in k-12 education bc it’s a very hard stressful job that gets little to no appreciation at best and paranoid driven complaints at worse.
Overall if somebody really is resentful then I would just as well avoid them. There have been times in my life where I’ve been jealous of somebody for totally different reasons, but I have to remind myself we are all on different paths and being ugly and mean over it will not get me any further on my goals.
To some extent they probably are. Becoming and maintaining your status as a teacher was/is an expensive and time consuming process. (Undergrad degree, licensing and credit to keep licensed, professional development etc.) Through which they, in theory, were given lots of valuable information about classroom management, learning development process, pacing and engagement etc. You pretty much got to skip all that. This doesn't mean you aren't or can't be a good teacher, but it does mean you didn't have to jump through all the hoops your colleagues did. Maybe not resentment but the occasional eye-roll might be inevitable. That being said, the training teachers get isn't what makes them good teachers. The individuals caring, attitude, engagement, and work ethic are. If you have those, the path you took to get there will cease to matter in a very short time. Competence is almost always recognized and appreciated over time.
Part of me is slightly jealous that you might not have all the student loans that I have but that’s really just a me problem. Most of me is so grateful you stepped in when there was a need to help children!
I fell into it and went through a transition to teaching programme. No one really cares how you get your certification.
