It really all depends on your team(s). For some, busy season is 6 weeks and can be anywhere from 50-70 hours per week. For others, it can be 65-85 hours per week and potentially shorter/longer than 6 weeks. On average, a typical public 12/31 will be somewhere in that 60-70 range most weeks in my opinion. You can easily get put on two jobs though with different year ends and end up having multiple busy seasons (ie year end public audits or even a private company audit).

85-90 hours in AWM audit sadly. 😢

Probably a little high, but I can relate.

I’d say actual hours were 70-80 during busy season—which for my AWM clients meant rolling from one client deadline to the next for 4-6 months / year (longer than most industry busy seasons). Off busy season was still 45-50 hours, and more towards 50-55 during Q’s or special projects

The scary part was how predictable far in advance a 60+ hr week was. Always feels like that’s a solvable problem

In my experience (2 busy seasons) its only been 55 during busy season. I think the trick is to ask to work on big public clients so you only are assigned one at a time. Also productive time management. If you can be efficient with your time then you'll work less. Outside of busy season it's 40.

Let's see.. is 10 35pm... worked til 4:30am last night and started back at 7:30... and yeah... summer is chilled 😆😆😆

Because the firms dangle the partnership/high comp carrot.

Very dependent on your clients. At EY managers are expected to have about 1,750 client chargeable hours. With training and admin, vacation and holiday etc, works out to about 300 hours of overtime per year. Could be concentrated in busy season with 40-45 hours per week the rest of the year. Or you could have a short busy season and other spikes at other times during the year.

26 hours/day, 8 days/week

Man. Things have sure changed over the years. Glad big4 audit isn't quite as bad of a sweat shop as it used to be.

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. Now that I signed the offer and is pending background checks, my anxiety is off the roof as it itches closer to my starting date.

How To Be Productive when Your Job Is Boring

I’m losing my damn mind at my job. I’m 23 years old and I’m a very ambitious, hard working individual but my job is literally so boring, I feel that all of my habits and skills are slowly deteriorating. I mean I do nothing all day, most days.

Im tired all the time, I can’t think of anything to do. I try to watch educational videos/pods, but there’s only so much. Any advice on how to fill in the time in a productive and entertaining manner?

I’ve done some soul searching of late and established I’d love to be offered a FTE role in my current company. I think this is partly due to never having had a full time job which I’ve enjoyed and which have valued my contributions. I think this is due to wanting to feel accepted. I know acceptance needs to start with me etc but I think redundancy and workplace gaslighting has meant I’ve never achieved growth and status in one company where I can truly grow. Anyone else has this?

So recently my SO has been accusing me of being in control of when we are intimate (sex and cuddling). She says that every time she wants to I say no - and whenever I want to - she says yes. So it's by default doing whatever I want when I want. It's a gross exaggeration of what's happening - but does anyone ever deal with something like this? How do you say no to something like that - without your partner thinking you're just looking out for yourself or you're controlling?
