If you're working on a project with strategy, tell them you're interested in strat and if you can help them with some of the grunt stuff like competitive, research, taking notes in stakeholder interviews, etc.
Most strategists entry level still have 3-4 years of work experience so it's harder to break into when you're super green, but if you have an aptitude for it you can make the jump around supervisor level.
Without overextending yourself, ask your strategy colleagues how you can help them with their work. You'll get more than a peek of what's involved
Agree w.AS1! That said, I think it's easy to romanticize what a strat does while forgetting that a lot of what they do is getting in the weeds w/data (especially at the jr level). If that's not a strong-suit and you're not naturally interested in working w/large datasets & syndicated data sources to gleam insights, you might not have a great time.
And then when you are more senior, you just build decks all day haha
What about looking at different entry level positions at other agencies. Is that a good way to switch?
Someone else shared this site w/me on here, but I think it's a great resource for those that might be interested in exploring a shift, especially at the junior level. Speak to a current Strategist (if they have bandwidth)!

I’m actually interviewing for several strat roles that aren’t even jr. Granted my last gig was very end to end and I had done loads of strat work
