I’m currently an experienced tax manager specializing in corporate tax and ASC740 reporting looking to transition to industry (ideally). I’m curious of the best way to go about finding opportunities in my area. Any recommendations on going about this? LinkdIn, glassdoor/indeed, recruiters? Also a buddy of mine is a recruiter and assisting me with opportunities, but seems a little slow compared to all the traffic on my LinkdIn. Would it be taboo to be applying while still working with him?

Find a couple of head hunters you like. Build relationships with them and hopefully you can trust them. They should be in the know for everything other than fully remote. Fully remote roles recruit themselves.

Not taboo at all. As a recruiter he should know that he doesn’t have access to every organization/ listing. Always work with multiple recruiters! And reach out to ppl that have left your firm recently as well to get advice which might lead to an interview!

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.

Hi all,

Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both
KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!
