I’m debating whether to switch roles. I’m currently in-house at a large company with reasonable pay and good work, and a team I like. The main downside is a recent move to 5 days RTO, my commute is about 20 mins, not so bad.

I’m considering another role with slightly higher pay and a 2–3 day hybrid schedule, but the commute would be about 1.5 hours each way.

Which would you choose: a short daily commute with full-time office attendance, or a longer commute for greater flexibility?

Entering my 2nd year as a medical malpractice (insurance) defense litigator. My billables are 2200 per year, even during WFH and COVID while the courts are moving very slowly. Any advice as to what I should look into for an exit? I can’t hit those billables while maintaining my sanity.

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?
