I’m exploring the different angles of a Product Marketing career. Currently at a $500M ARR SaaS with 6 products, I work on 1. Been PMM for 1.25 years, at $95K (in New York), and been working hard to learn more, perform well, and contribute creatively to my team. ❤️ where I’m at.

Considering offer from a mid-startup; also SaaS (AI p13n), founded 2016, $11M raised 2021, remote, $130K, 1st PMM will build program.

I'm two thirds through the PMA Core Certification, and the info is great but the tests are a joke. They need to contract with an educator that specializes in testing and assessment to come in and develop exams that actually measure if you know the material. The bad test design devalues the certification. Not to zero, but I definitely will not be proud to have earned it. It just means I had $1300 and sat through 15 hours of video lectures.

What should I pay a part time PMM at a Series A funded, Y Combinator-backed Fintech SaaS startup working 20 hours a week whose job it is to assist the CMO (me) with setting up and managing a product marketing function? What’s your work-life balance like? I feel like I’m constantly working after hours, always balancing multiple projects, hardly ever going through a phase where there isn’t a ton of critical initiatives going on. It definitely wasn’t like this when I was a more junior PMM, but as a Senior PMM, my work-life balance has severely decreased. Is this just the nature of Product Marketing? Or can I actually find a senior PMM role that allows a bit more room to breathe?

Marketing leaders at startups: at what point did you make your first dedicated product marketing hire? What lessons did you learn? Did you do it too early? Too late? Didn’t hire senior enough?

I just got an offer from a company that I have mixed feelings about. Team seems great but Glassdoor reviews, not so much. Cons: Its a startup, the solution they offer is adjacent to my desired industry, its a very small team so I wouldn’t grow my network as much, tech stipend for new laptop (but they don’t provide a work one)
