I'm having trouble deciding which roles or levels to target for an exit to in industry. I have several years of ops management prior to moving into PA as Staff. Currently a manager in tax at big 4 and ideally would want to go to prior industry at a mid-size or small company as CFO. Looking for insight to other roles I may be overlooking.

1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. I have heard that most legacy systems specifically mainframes are being replaced and new technologies taking over for similar purpose.
How about employee like us who just started in this mainframe tech . Where will we end up if you stay in this.
Many of onsite leads tells that move of it as they are migrating larger part of it to new platforms but BU heads says it is going to stay for a long long time don't get panicked.
Can anyone let me know the real scenario.??
