Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.
Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?
Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

The silence gets to me more than the rejections do. At least a no is information. I'm in cybersecurity, been at this a while now, and some weeks it's just... nothing back. From anyone.
Honestly what's helped is I stopped grading myself on responses. I can't control those. I track what I actually did - applications, messages to people, study time for my cert. That's it. Otherwise the inbox becomes a slot machine and you lose every pull.
Also learned the hard way to give it a time box. Couple hours, then done for the day. When I let it take over everything I was burning out way faster than the rejections alone would've done it.
Some days still suck though, not going to pretend otherwise. But the market being slow isn't a verdict on any of us.
I agree with you 💯. The time-boxing is definitely good for mental health. I rather use number of applications rather than time.
Due to the process I follow to apply for each role, it takes me approximately 1.5hrs per application. So I focus on doing, at least, 2 solid applications per day. On happy days, I do 3. Recently, I’ve been very low. I do 1 solid application per day and spend time on following up on previous applications. Follow up on networking on LinkedIn. Spend time studying my STAR scenarios - better to be prepared when opportunity pops up suddenly.
It is important to vary the activities one does during this job search phase. Otherwise, depression will set in.
I stopped caring so much and started doing better, oddly enough. But yes it’s so tough. Hang in there. Take breaks and time off so you don’t get burned out.

It's hell on earth quite frankly. I've been at it for 6 months now, savings is gone, and our house is on the market.
I've interviewed and done well at Microsoft, Google, and others, which provided a period of hopefull relief. Then the rejection came, shoving me down to new lows as the reality that good interviews don't pay the bills settles in yet again.
I have a recruiter call tomorrow for a role that won't save our home, but if I get it I'll at least be able to qualify for a place to rent without much hassle, so there hope in that. Most likely I'll yet again be considered as overqualified, and have to find a landlord that will accept our former homes equity as proof that we'll pay rent.
Really sorry to hear this. It must be terribly tough for you to sail through this period emotionally and physically. I hope you have supportive friends and family around.
I went through something similar in the past - divorce - it is a terrible place to be - losing almost everything like a disturbed domino falling over others.
