One thing to work into your planning, Wildfires have made the air toxic across the west coast the last 4-5. The area between the cascades and Rockies are the worst. Closer to the coast is better but I might slide Target period forward to May to end of July.
Will speak to the ones I know.
San Jauns - beautiful islands, lots of water activities and hiking but like any islands hard to get off and explore other areas. Pretty small so might not be interesting for the full 3 months.
Snoqualmie - just a suburb of Seattle now. McMansions full of families commuting for work. Would recommend towns in the foothills farther south.
Some of the beach towns in Oregon are nice, Newport, Cannon beach, yahauts. Bend or deschutes are nice. Bozeman, as always.
Keep in mind if you are on the west side of the Cascades you are going to be looking at consistent highs in the 70s and summer won't really start until the end of June. If you are east of the Cascades, it will be much hotter and summer starts earlier but it will be smokier once wildfires start.
Man…. If you swing the San Juan Islands for a month or so during the summer I doubt you’ll ever leave.
Legit paradise.
I would definitely recommend the following
1. Bend Oregon
2. Jackson Hole, Wy
3. Pretty much all of Montana, but Bozeman in particular
4. Ft. Collins Colorado, nice college town about an hour north of Denver so good airport access
5. A bit of an off the path, but Flagstaff, Arizona is pretty great as well.
Tahoe is a decent choice but it’s packed with SF tech folks so the market for rentals is a bit insane right now. But it’s also amazing.
I grew up in Oregon and live in SoCal and spent summers in Montana. The west is a pretty amazing place.
Don’t be surprised when your summer turns into a permanent move.
PS: check tax, residency and hr policies before moving just for no surprises

Oregon is wonderful and usually cheaper than Cali and WA. Can’t go wrong along the Oregon coast

You can get great deals in Tahoe from April to June between ski season and summer rentals. Definitely check it out! There are areas both in CA and on the Nevada side

Curious because I want to do the same, but our return to work date has been very vague and manager-specific so I have no idea if or when I need to be back at my home office. Are you working fully remote, or will you clear this with your manager?

Sounds like you’ve got it figured out. Congrats!
