Congrats!
Local Facebook groups were a great resource for finding an OB near me. Also highly recommend reading Expecting Better if you haven’t already.
Congrats!! I’ve delivered at NYU twice with Downtown Women. It’s a group of female ob’s and during your appointments over the course of your pregnancy, you met each of them. You don’t establish a deep relationship with each one (which some people don’t like) but you do meet them all. Then when you give birth, one of them will be at the hospital depending on day/time/shift. We had a doula both times which I highly recommend, so you do have someone there who you know really well. Second birth was last year and our doula was on video call - it worked fine and I was glad to have her (as was my husband!). I liked NYU as a hospital. The only negative is the rooms you stay in after giving birth though are tiny & shared. there’s two mother/baby/partner to a room, separated with only a curtain. You can pay for a private room but it’s first come basis, you can’t book in advance. Happy to answer any other questions.
Congrats!!
They are out of network as a private practice, but the quality (and empathy) of care I received at Village OB was more valuable than anything I have invested in in the past. They were a perfect combination of crunchy midwifery meets scientific evidence-based practice. My labor was horrrrrrible, but the birth itself a breeze.
Honestly, I saw two other OBs before settling there and finally feeling comfortable, and am so glad I did!
Here if you have any other questions at all! Feel free to DM me.
@Strategist1 Im so sorry you had a rough go!! I honestly wouldn’t have gone with it either financially if I hadnt had medical trauma in the past with a doctor who treated me like a piece of machinery and not like a human.
Was very thankful their approach wasn’t just a marketing gimmick. Up until even my post partum appointment they were incredibly kind and helpful. They even sent a reflexologist to my apartment to help with my stress and anxiety post delivery. Like, seriously.
Congrats! I was with Downtown Women and delivered at NYU and recommend both of them highly. I always felt like I was in good hands, my baby had a short NICU stay right after she was born, and I was floored by how professional and gentle they were with us.
The only downside is that the rooms are tiny and kinda rundown. They didn’t have any private rooms available so we had to share, with a lovely respectful couple the first night, and a noisy, inconsiderate one the second.
Also delivered at NYU with Downtown. My delivery (c section) was fine, experience was good with the hospital, they were very hands on. However I had a miscarriage years later and feel like it was very poorly managed by Downtown Women. I have since switched practices.
Congrats!!!
Congratulations! 🎊🤗
I delivered at NYU Langone 6 months ago.
One caveat is that rooms are first come first serve and we didn’t get to have a private room because it was rush hour when I gave birth and there were too many women delivering at the same time. I wish we had had a private room our first night. Not sure what I could’ve done about it but just to manage expextarions.
2nd caveat is I wanted an epidural and I never got it because the anesthesiologist was too busy to come because it was rush hour. I gave birth without an epidural - and I wanted to die, just being honest. (Because it wasn’t my choice - if I had been prepared, it would’ve been different)
So, my advice is IF you want an epidural, make sure you scream at them to get it. I think I was too polite and they didn’t take me seriously. Also maybe it’s because it was a male nurse and he didn’t empathize at all? Really dont want to play the gender card but he gave no fs about how I felt. He even gave my husband this “look” like I was “exaggerating.” (My husband told me after) I gave birth in 2 hours.
All is forgotten and I laugh about it today! But I don’t want to discount the experience back then because time has healed my trauma.
Other than that they were great! This could’ve happened anywhere. Doctor was awesome, all the other nurses were amazing.
Omg thanks for sharing. ♥️ I’m so sorry you had to go through these! He should’ve been more caring about your feeling. Ugh cringe
Congratulations!!
Thank you♥️
Congratulations!! I delivered at NYU 3 times (with both Maternal Fetal Medicine and Cityscape OBGyn) and it’s amazing. I trust them completely and I’ve had both high risk babies and high risk pregnancies. Their NiCu is one of the only ones in the area that is level 4(means highly specialized). The nurses are incredible and so supportive. Rooms are split unless you pay for private but with Covid they really try not to have you share a room. Also, the food is actually really really good and they take care of you so well. Oh and OBs - Dr Talib and Dr Ruggiero at Cityscape are great. Good luck!
Congrats!! I thought park slope parents forum was helpful for reviews overall, but with OBs it really comes down to what you’re comfortable with/need in your pregnancy/want from your provider, e.g. high risk or want a more natural birth or just want to get to the finish line. But whatever you do don’t go to spring OB/GYN - they were totally dismissive of my questions and unempathetic and tried to threaten me into an entirely unnecessary induction at 40 weeks. That said you’re not married to your OB so don’t feel like your first one has to be THE one. Dr. Nabizadeh and Dr. Bradley’s practice is amazing - very much a medical-forward approach but care about your birth experience - and deliver at the brand new Weill Cornell hospital (private rooms ftw). Also get a doula!!! Good luck and welcome 🤗
+1 for Dr Bradley! She was my gyn for years before I moved to LA. Didn’t have a baby with her but she was an awesome dr. Congrats!!
My best advice is to get a doula (worth it)! She will help you navigate everything.
Also loved downtown women and NYU. I had a complicated pregnancy and they took amazing care. My primary OB who I adored was de Whitehead. But they were all lovely.

Congrats! Here for you! Not in your area but I ended up going with a midwife group that was in with the best hospital in town that is also next to the children’s hospital. Thought that provided the assurance of science with the intuitive approach of midwifery.
Ahhh congratulations!! I went with midwives. Interview a couple practices you like - docs or midwives should be happy to talk to you. They also might offer a parents night to learn more. Good luck!
