I’m really trying to break into acute care. I have a full time job in another setting and I started a PRN Acute job a few months ago. I’ve applied EVERYWHERE in my tristate area but always get “you need more experience”. I would quit my full time job and just pick up a bunch of PRN but health insurance is a thing. Any tips for getting a job with limited experience?

Your PRN job will be an asset and could potentially lead to FT. Another recommendation, see if you can find the contact info for any of the DORs for the hospitals you are interested in.

I just accepted a position at a hospital I’ve applied for MANY times. I have acute rehab and some acute care experience. Worked for a larger hospital system for 8 years. My OT program posted a position on their FB page with the directors phone number listed. I called and spoke to him about it, applied, interviewed, and was offered the job within a couple of weeks. I’m sure having the ability to talk to him first over the phone made the difference this time around. Having a connection is so much more meaningful than simply looking at a resume.

Have final round interviews at BCG tomorrow. I'm at S& right now at the SA level. Father had a sudden health issue come up this week and it's got me off my game. I'll ultimately need to support him financially for at least a year while he recovers. Not complaining, but has me considering just dropping out of the interview process. Is that crazy? Is the opportunity with BCG really so far beyond what I have already with S&? Is dropping a better look than interviewing and doing terribly?

I’m 25 and have found a duplex I’m considering purchasing as a rental property. Planning on renting both units and have the cash to make the down payment without an issue. My cash flow analysis has a payback period of 3 years for my down payment and a 13 year payback period for the whole investment. I think financially it makes sense. My question is, is it realistic for a 25 year old young professional to handle dealing with all the extra curricular’s that come with owning a rental property ?

Is it too much to ask a home health company for someone to shadow/orient? I was just hired PRN and that was something I asked for during the hiring process and the recruiter agreed. Never heard back and it’s been several weeks yet keep getting texts from the schedule if office to see patients. Is this typical for home health or a red flag?
