Men and women, ladies and gentlemen, guys and gals - make the sentence longer. Of course I'm addressing both sexes. I'd rather say thanks guys. Instead of going PC with guys and gals.

Whenever people use "PC" in that derogatory way, I like to replace it with "kind and respectful to people," which is what it means. Now OP's comment says, "...instead of going 'kind and respectful' with guys and gals."

It wasn't derogatory. PC - politically correct. That's what it is.

When I say "thanks guys" I'm not being unkind and disrespectful to anyone. And when I say, "thanks guys and gals" - it doesn't increase the kindness and respect I convey and mean.

It's an effort to keep the written and spoken language simple and free from bloatage. Less words conveying the same message.

So is guys. But it's used and understood.

Comp compare against other professions - our big law salaries are relatively public info. How do we fare against our i-banker friends, PE/VC friends, doctor friends, and friends without higher degrees but doing well at companies they work at? Always been so curious about this. Anytime I google this, I only get comp info for lower level staff. What I’m looking to know is if we could have made more money with less work in a different profession! Lol
