As a former extremely obese person, you have no idea how it feels to be that person hanging over in another person’s seat. It’s just as bad as having to hang over because your row mates are “large”. Having been in those shoes, I attempt to be compassionate when faced with being crowded in a seat by others.
Try being the 6’3 guy with broad shoulders having to be squeezed in next to that person. 2nd worst flight experience.
I can't even imagine.
I had a similar experience prior to covid. 6’1 broad shoulders here as well so I’m taking up most of my seat. On a regional jet 2-2 configuration and the dude was large he spilled into my seat. Couldn’t get another seat on the plane and had to make the flight for a client meeting. You couldn’t even see the armrest in the middle. Literally in pain after the flight from leaning to the left so much and had months worth of chiropractic treatment to get my back to normal. So I had to foot the medical bill even after complaining to airline. If your flying American the rule is they have to basically be in your seat ( body going over the arm rest). Complaints fall on deaf ears for airlines in this situation
There should be a big people section on planes where seats are bigger. That way others don’t have to suffer. I say some someone whose hips and lover handles were on my legs the whole time. He was basically just sitting on top of me with half of his body. No matter how far I leaned he still sat on me. 😆
I see the problem. Most people who need two seats would probably not fly then. It’s a stalemate.
Honestly? Win-win, either way.
