HOW DID YOU GET IN THIS BOWL! YOU WILL LEARN OUR TRICKS!
Sounds like it...
You need at least 15% bump in salary to make it worth it
Such a negligible bump to be considered as a reason to move. Title is BS - I was a director in fortune 50 life science company and had much more responsibility/ scope vs. svp at financial firms. I’m a manager now doing consulting so from a “title” perspective, I’ve taken a multiple hop down(by choice as $ is as good and pressure is less). It’s what you’ve done/can do and not what you are called. Don’t jump for the wrong reason
Haha used to be in consulting
Title bump for sure
Title bump is nice to lateral into something else at that level. I would take it if things aren’t certain. That said, what are your reservations about the new gig?
Op it would be with the bonus and equity possibly? Negotiate back and keep looking.
EY3- stepping back from title is fine. But I have found it’s easier to move into a job when you have the title vs not- regardless if current responsibility. If it’s in the same industry then the title swings aren’t as bad as your example
What’s your current title? Are you at a big or small firm? Is there a career path at your current employer?
Currently a manager, no real upward momentum it jus feels like a lowball offer tbh
Depends, everybody in this app is going to say “x% justifies a move”, but this is an industry to industry jump. If you find the notion of building your own product, have a strong interest and belief in your product, and feel that the equity will be worth it in the long run, I think it’s a compelling thought.
Agree. 15% at a minimum. Jumping is huge risk. Have to rebuild network. Not good
Update job security is rough here...so I may be leaving regardless. Soooo should I hold out? Or take the title bump. I don’t currently get a bonus so there is that to consider
Just feels like a low ball offer. Thought it’d be closer to the 150-160 range at least.
Honestly, the main reason why I’m considering it is bc my days are numbered at my current place. Bonus could bump me up closer to 160ish...but still. A little blown
Is this an initial offer or post-negotiation figure?
Sounds like you need to jump ship
Didn’t make it sound like it there was much room for negotiating...but yeah, I def need to leave my job.
