In the past 6 months, my childhood pet died, my parents got divorced, and my childhood home has been put up for sale. Sometimes I just randomly cry in the middle of the workday lol. I feel like a 5 year old.

People will say that time will heal but it really won't. I still miss my cat, I still miss my house, I still miss what once was with my family. It's been twenty years and I still feel the pit in my stomach. A hole that nothing can fill.

like

Sorry to hear that. Cry it out.

Your pet went to be your angel as you go through this difficult phase. Your parents are still your parents, and maybe you can build a deeper relationship with each one individually. ❤️

Grieve, then hold your grief tenderly and keep living. Unfortunately this is is what happens as we get older-we lose different people, places, things, ways of life we value.

like

It gets worse the older you get. It's part of what having a family does for you as you get to carry those attachment emotions on to the next generation and more fondly remember what you no longer have.

like

That’s a really great way of putting it ❤️

My mom died 18 years ago, and my oldest kid is 17, which means they only know their grandma through pictures and funny stories.

like

That’s a lot OP. Take care of yourself. Can’t imagine.

like

Sorry it didn’t work out with ur parents. May I ask why ?

Damn. Well, if you don’t ever talk to your new sibling in the future, I would tottally get it and it’s entirely your choice and your choice only but maybe overtime you might. That baby is innocent but ur dad totally sucks. Good luck OP.

Life has these challenges. Im at the age where my parents died and im divorced myself. Not even talking pets. I do feel you get over things in time with a mix of pain and great memories when you think back. I try to focus on the good from the past and present.
But in your case its a lot at the same time… hope it will get easier soon.. fact it hurts means you had great things in the past and keep those good memories.

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?

like

I want to be in private equity because I want to make a lot of money. I want to be in FAANG because I want to do interesting work but make only slightly more money than I’m making now.

I’m having a lot of trouble figuring out which to pursue.

I keep hearing that Booth’s MBA program is rigorous (maybe the most rigorous out of M7). That said, how much more work are students expected to do compared to HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, etc.? I don’t know if this is an outdated opinion, considering a lot of MBAs are very demanding. Booth is personally my top choice for having a flexible curriculum & 2-3 days of classes. But I really want to know what to expect around the “rigorous” label. Does it mean I’ll be buried in coursework the other 2-3 days?

Have you seen women wear ties and "masculine"-looking suits to work? Was it accepted by client and team? I've never worn a tie to work, but when I've worn clothing that had a more "masculine" fit either in grad school or some work environments, I've gotten comments and looks, or sometimes asked (or people gossiped) about my orientation. When I wear more "feminine"-looking clothing, I feel more more uncomfortable and awkward. 🤷🏼‍♀️

One of my closest friends have become so incredibly negative and self obsessed with her petty problems lately. I feel like all I do everyday is listen to her whine and complain! I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).

I love a well behaved dog.

But dog hype and what dog owners get away with in terms of occupying human spaces, jumping on strangers with dirty paws, going to a friends house and having the dogs harass you for food, and obsession on the dating apps is next level obnoxious.

Dogs can be great, not a hater. But if you can’t control your dog you’re a massive piece of shit for imposing that on everyone else.
