If they have fully remote workers that aren’t within commuting distance, do they force you to relocate? Or are there exceptions made? Wonder what the standard has been for all these companies being back in office.
I wouldn’t take this as gospel, but I’ve seen it mentioned in other threads on it that with fundamental shifts in your working conditions or contract you can still get unemployment due to the significant change in circumstance etc etc etc
I’m within commuting distance but it’s about a 75- 90-minute drive each way with traffic. Many years ago when I was working at another IPG agency, I quit after 2 near-death experiences with trucks while driving home late at night. If they say we have to come in every day—I have no idea how they would fit everyone—that would be it for me. My health and safety come first.
This is not a foreclosure auction (or a merger, for that matter). It's an acquisition. Omincom isn't spending this money for fun. If there's a gain to be had, it's IPGH. It's the only division of IPG that has generated any revenue in the year before the sale was announced. FCBCure alone scored two big wins in recent weeks. I can't speak for non-pharma shops, and I certainly can't speak for data shops like Acxiom (which already had cuts this year) but Omnicom doesn't want to lose money or clients.
Switching to one email is a sign of consolidation ahead of mass layoffs and merging
Bad. I’m working like 60 hour weeks, more than fully billable, and we’ve been winning more business but can’t help but feel we’re all done for. Especially with how remote heavy our team is.
Both, and/or my job since I’m remote and easy to toss.
I’m freaking out about it. Not sure who this is good for other than John Wren.
Just accepted an offer from IPG, the recruiter assured me it would stay remote. Any news on this front I should get caught up on?
I saw the 5 days a week thing mentioned in the Omnicom bowl for back office staff like finance. I think those that work in corporate received an email last month telling them it’s 5 days a week mandated onsite.
This should be interesting because there definitely isn’t enough seating for my agency in the building we are assigned to. I think we have enough seats for about 15% of us so not sure how hybrid would work.
I’m kinda over this whole acquisition, I’m still praying it falls through but that’s not likely. 😭
I guess.. feeling the tiniest bit of cope due to being located in NYC. Otherwise, extremely nervous.
They are probably going to transition everyone to the Omnicom three-days-in-office standard, because Omnicom is not going to be going full remote, given that all industries are moving away from that.
But also ppl all go in on the same day. When I’ve gone in - there’s no room to sit with my team.
