They don’t own “you”, but they do own the relationship you have with their recruiting firm. But they also own the relationships they have with the companies that use their services. So it’s possible this other recruiter owned the relationship with this opportunity, and without good internal communication, your recruiter may never have known about it, or, there is the possibility they were hoarding you to themselves. However, good recruiters and recruiting firms don’t have the issues you are talking about. There is a network of information sharing. Then they internally refer you to the other recruiter who might not own your relationship, but owns the relationship for the job that’d be perfect for you, and they make the connection, and share the commission if you’re hired. Just know, what’s meant to be will come to pass. Just keep working the process to the best of your ability.
They should simply be a tool to connect you to roles you want. Any better role is where you should go, and any recruiter not offering what you want should be cut off.
It’s a transaction, some of them are great and actually can give proper guidance but most are just looking for anyone to fill the position.
They are salespeople selling roles at the end of the day.
No recruiter has ever owned me
Yea good luck with anyone thinking they have ownership of me or “my account” I couldn’t care less
