AE is soo much fun. Once you get the hang of it, I promise you'll find it just as easy as you found PP. It's pretty much the same thing, just a few variations. Give yourself a few weeks to get over those little bumps and you'll be smooth sailing.
I’ve been using AE for 10+ years and I’m proficient but I still don’t know what I’m doing half the time. The initial learning curve is a bit steep but once you learn the basics, you can pretty much figure anything out with a little patience.
That is how I felt at first. I found it overwhelming. I did a Lynda tutorial to get an overview and then I just jumped and started working on project.
Yes, it's very easy. There is a YouTube tutorial for anything you want to do - if not exactly what you need, it will be adjacent enough to figure it out. I taught myself AE over a week while doing VFX for a short film.
I taught myself the basics in around a week - good enough to create a bunch of content for screens around a large entertainment venue, anyway. But it's now (counts on fingers) 19 years later and I'm still learning stuff. It's closer to Photoshop than Premiere, for what that's worth.
