Is going to MBB from a Big 4 considered going to a competitor? Wondering if I will not be allowed to serve 2 weeks when I drop my papers. Any examples from people that were asked to leave immediately?

Typically when you don’t serve out your two weeks, you get paid for it anyway. It’s not about saving the two weeks’ salary, it’s about minimizing your opportunities to take sensitive information with you.

like

Which line of service are you going to? Is it in the same practice?

like

Of course they're a competitor. Do you have to tell people where you're going?

like

Going to the exact same service line. I understand I’m not obligated to tell people, but a few leaders are mentors and I’m happy to share with them.

like

They’re required to inform HR if you do tell them.

like

Unless you’re coming from Deloitte (so I’ve heard)

funny

I think you’ll get booted immediately, but paid out for the two weeks you were supposed to work anyway

It’s actually called MBBD. Everyone knows we compete with McKinsey.

All jokes aside, I’ve never told my employer where my next job is, and I never will.keep it vague, something like “oh just pursing a passion of mine” or “I found a great opportunity”

Definitely considered competitors. Depends on the phase of the project you’re staffed on. If it’s a natural break/pause, they could let go sooner.

Hi all- My SO is currently at a Big4 & was initially preparing for S&O roles at GCP but given the high number of ex MBB consultants hired, they believe its just more competition to get the offer & to eventually get promoted over time.

Instead, they have decided to pursue program manager or cloud consultant roles, which they feel might have a lower barrier to entry from an assessment standpoint. Not sure if the bowl agrees but would like to get your thoughts, thanks!

Hi, where or what types of companies should sophomores & juniors apply for next summer (2022) to recruit for IB the following summer (2023)? This summer BBs wrapped up SA IB recruitment, EBs even earlier, and a fair amount of my friends missed out big time.

Also, if a sophomore or junior doesn’t get a finance-related summer internship (I.e tech) and aims for an IB SA or FT position, is it harder to break in?

Appreciate any advice and insight, thank you.

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question:
1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

Hello fishes. Need some insurance advice.
My parents are dependent on me. My 62 yo dad and 57yo mom do some part time work and makes $1000/mon. Dad has some health complications like diabetes, high bp, genetic heart issues, liver problems etc. Does it make sense to get a life insurance for him - 20 yr term, $1M coverage. Premium is around $500. I am thinking I can pay the premium but if something happens to dad, it will help my mom pay be self-sufficient

Additional Posts in Consulting Exit Opportunities

I was a Manager at a Big4 doing PM fed work earlier this year. I decided to join a small firm to pursue cloud sales. However, the position is extremely technical in nature and I'm required to speak tech ( kubernetes, openshift, CICD) to potential clients.
While I have learned from the exposure, I dont intend to continue in a tech role & looking to exit. I'm thinking of Customer/ Partner Success Manager roles with one of the CSPs. Are there other non tech cloud exit opps in industry to consider?
