No, it sounds like you're choosing to feel that way and seeking valdiation to kick the can down the road on your impending job search... 🤔
I have already updated about 60-70% of my resume so I know it, just know how mentally taxing a job search is 😭 Moving would be easier than job searching!
I feel like people who have trouble in the job market right now either doesn't have solid skills or can't speak to their skills well. There are always places looking for new people, you just have to stand out against the competition.
I dont think anyone likes to look for a new job and I feel like everyone deals with putting it off by saying that it's a crappy job market. If you can build a resume that stands out from the other applicants, talk about your skills in a professional way, and show why you're an asset, you will be perfectly fine.
It is a tough job market. What I suggest is to make sure you can talk clearly about your experience and the results you have delivered. Make sure your LinkedIn reflects that. I suggest connecting with people at companies or industries that you are interested in and having informational conversations. This helps you to make a new contact and gives you a chance to learn more about the industry. So you can express you are curious without starting a job search and the person may think of you when something opens up.
Yes, it better to avoid the unemployment time. Always have BATNA when the situation is indicating towards reduction of workforce due to AI. You'll get to know the indicators, you can prepare before that.
Easier to look for a new job when you’re employed…
That’s why I posed the question 🙃
Never trapped. I talk to at least one recruiter every other week. I'm not even interested in another role but its good to maintain the pipeline because in my industry funding changes and nothing is guaranteed. RIF's happen. But i guess thats the same everywhere. Best of luck!
I like this idea - I may just do this to keep a pulse on the market so that, if something bad does happen, I’m not totally rusty in my interview and networking game.
Definitely worth searching everybody I know who’s been laid off has gotten a job. We did a lot of layoffs at my company and as far as I can tell, everybody is in a bit of position.
Whoops that should say a much better position.
