Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.

I assume you're using the term formal in a colloquial sense and not to mean actual formal as in tuxedos or gowns. That would make an impression, but it might be a bit much. Your instincts are correct, I think, it's good to dress well for an interview, it just shows respect for the process.

Thats actually a pretty good idea. Just dress like the work attire!
I think there's a difference between formal and professional. Formal is, like C1 said above, tuxes and gowns. But professional is slacks, nice closed toe shoes, button down shirts, and ties if you're male. Most importantly you want to make sure you have a nice hair cut and are well groomed. I think that goes super far!

Ya, hygiene is important! Hair cuts are getting pretty expensive these days!
I honestly do and always have. I always like to dress to impress, even if the environment is casual. I think it says a lot about a person.

Thanks for your insight. Thats my thought process as well. Its better to overdress than underdress. If the interviewer comments poorly, I think it may be their insecurities. They shouldn’t be insecure because they are the one in control..
I think business casual is fine. No need for a full suit and Thai, at least not these days. Maybe back a couple of decades ago it would've been more acceptable, but now it might be seen as overly formal.

Good to know. Everything has been changing so much recently
I always prefer applicants to be dressed in business attire. I will accept business casual. But being dressed in professional business attire always leaves me with a good impression. I suppose if you were working in like a tech field like you’re going to become a plumber or something else that uses hands on skills being that formal wouldn’t be necessary.

That makes sense. The only argument is that they are not working that day and prefer to have someone looking fresh and professional
