Is it just me or is the recession hitting the UK big time right now? I work in Germany but looking to relocate to UK with my husband and whilst all the consultancy firms have tons of job offers listed for Germany, in the UK there is hardly anything. For example, Accenture has 700+ openings for Germany at the moment, but only about 50 for UK.

Starting to worry that going to the UK might be a career limiting move 🥲

I applied for a job at Visa and was contacted the same day. A few days later I had a 30-minute screening interview with the hiring manager. I knew I was very early in the process since the job had only been posted for a few days. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard back, even after reaching out to the recruiter. Have I been ghosted or is there still hope? Does anyone at Visa have insights? Looks like there are a ton of jobs posted so maybe they are just backed up?

I lateraled from a small firm to regional big law last year. I was told that my offer was commensurate with class year (5th year). The firm recently increased first year salary, with a 5% increase for all other attorneys. My original salary was equal to the new first year salary. The difference between my new salary and a first year is now $10k. I think it is fairly obvious that the hiring partner was not truthful with me. How would you address this? Is another lateral move my only option?

London is a world class metropolitan city and so is the cost of livi.
But then why don't MAANG or other big techs pay as high for software managers and other leadership roles as they do in the USA, particularly California, Washington, New York. In fact for the same role, $ salaries are at least 3X higher to their counterparts roles here in London.
Definitely, London isn't 3X cheaper them.
Is it that companies don't want that high here or there isn't enough competition or something else?
