Is it normal for directors to indirectly tell you to bill 45hrs to a client with no cap to get your utilization up and to increase their collections? There's probably 5hrs of actual work for me to do. First year in consulting, so I don't know if this is the norm. I've also had another scenario where the invoice was too low and was asked to add a few more hours to the bill
That’s way better than then telling you to under bill which is also somewhat common…
This. I remember one of my first projects having a director yell at me after the first month when he was creating the invoice because I had billed actuals (what I was told to do and firm policy) but his “unofficial official rule” was bill 40 hours a week.
