I think it's important to try to come up with some thing. Even if it's not substantial, at least something so it seems like you're present and focused.
Saying stuff isn’t always a bad thing depending on what you say and how you say it. And you won’t necessarily get a bad rap. Don’t say anything dumb obviously. But I don’t think “coming up with something” is necessarily bad. It’s all relative and depends on how you frame it. Sure, the first priority should be trying to identify the value-adds and pertinent elements that you deal with regularly, but if you can’t do that then don’t be afraid to “come up with something” or simply ask a question. I don’t thing there’s anything wrong with it. And I agree with M1, it shows presence and focus. Just make sure whatever you come up with or ask is relevant and you’ll be fine.
Yeah a lot of my counterparts are quiet, even if they aren’t junior. Especially when things are super busy. I definitely try to make our AE status mtgs worth it though. Even it’s just shooting the shit
You always have something to contribute! Even if it’s just a “that’s a great idea” or “I like that too” so to not bring too much attention but that you are present, listening and attentive to the team’s discussion. If it’s video conference, put it in the chat.
I'm the same way. We have meetings so often. After the first meeting, I usually have nothing to contribute. I ask questions here and there to be engaged.
I usually don't have anything to say in any of the meetings. It's so awkward. I'm more of a independent worker so I hate having to check in every few days when I don't think it's necessary.
I think it's okay to not have anything to say in status meetings. Not everyone needs to contribute every time. And it's better to say nothing than to say something stupid.
