Is it off-putting to message an in-house lawyer on LinkedIn about a position on their team that’s opened that you’ve applied for or search for a recruiting manager? Very interested in a particular position and don’t want my app to die in review limbo.

If it’s worded correctly (genuine and polite) this wouldn’t bother me at all.

Same, especially if they posted about the role as well.

Agreed, I wouldn’t mind, but you need to thread the needle between expressing interest and being annoying.

Anything to get past the initial gauntlet of recruiter keyword searches/the algorithmic ranking minigame is probably a net positive. You can google it, but I think the articles undersell the inefficiency of the initial screen in the recruiting process. Applicant tracking systems are good at pulling a fistful of qualified candidates at the expense of finding the best candidate or ensuring every qualified candidate is considered. Over enough job apps it probably evens out, but for a particular job any extra leverage to get your resume in front of an attorney with a pulse couldn’t hurt.

It got someone on my team a job. Just don’t be annoying

I think it's fine ...

From what I understand, you probablycannot avoid an HR screen at sometime, and if you have solid internal contacts, then things may move a little quicker. Probably depends on how well the HR group is juiced with power to do things their way.

It can’t hurt - if worded well and your LinkedIn profile is stellar. But it honestly most of the time I don’t check LinkedIn messages frequently enough for it to help either.

I wouldn’t mind it

No. Do it.

What do you have to lose? Just be genuine and thoughtful about it.

How long does it usually take to hear after the final interview?

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

Considering joining a small 50-person company as the only attorney (prior attorney is retiring). (I am currently in-house at a F50). For others who have done the same path, what surprises did you have when moving from a large company to a small one?

For example, it sounds like I should not expect a document management system, based on a prior post in this bowl. I’m guessing expenses like state bar fees and cell phone are not reimbursed.

Any advice on things to expect (or not expect)?
