I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? Interviewed for Deloitte S&A Tech Strategy SC and got a verbal offer for Consultant instead. I negotiated the offer to 120K salary and 10K signing bonus. I’m a boomerang with 4 years ERP consulting but this past year I’ve been doing DEI Consulting. Spoke with former colleagues who rejoined Deloitte and got a much higher offer for SC.
