Hi Fishes, Sometime back I was interviewed for Technical Support Job role in my domain. T1 went well. T2, in my understanding was better only (not great like T1 but not blunder. I felt it was nice and i replied majority of questions). They released the feedback after 10 days with "Not Positive". I am not totally sure with feedback as I replied majority of questions correct. I am being bit curious with "Microsoft" tag. What can be the reason?
Discussion appreciated.

Sometimes CDs pre screen. Other times they don’t. Often they won’t dig deep and use the interview to see what you actually did in the work . You wouldn’t believe how much fraud or extreme stretches you see.
“Oh yeah, that Grand Prix TV campaign, I was in the room when it was pitched by another team but I wrote the tweet for the CMO that mentioned it, so I was involved. ”
Actually happened.
holy shit🤢
Don’t recruiters always share the book with the hiring CDs before inviting someone to interview? I always thought that’s what got someone an in-person interview.
OP- Most people don’t get hired on the quality of their book alone. I’d be willing to overlook some areas of a portfolio if someone could sell me on their potential and hunger to learn.
That being said, someone could have an immaculate portfolio but bomb the interview and I might not hire them.
You need to be selling yourself, your projects and your knowledge of the agency at every step of the interview process.
It means that whoever is the gatekeeper for starting the interview process i.e. recruiting thought your book was strong enough to bring in. But it doesn’t mean the Creatives on staff will agree.
That might genuinely be that they’re struggling to release the budget for it. If the CD/ECD doesn’t like your book, they’re not going to keep conversations open. They’re gonna shut it down.
I find it hard to believe that your book wasn’t approved before bringing you in. It would be a waste of your time as well as those interviewing you. However, it’s possible that the agency had stronger candidates for the position. If true, then that should had been the feedback to you vs your portfolio isn’t strong.
Interviewing is how they find out if they like you as a person.
