Anything is possible but you definitely are not in a strong position to negotiate anything. They see it as they're doing you a favor by shifting you and not laying you off. Also, you may be associated with why an account was lost.
Think about who you would need to ask about that. Then imagine you're that person, and what your reaction would be when real you shows-up and says, "Hi, I'm Pat, a Senior Strategist. I've only been here a few months. We lost my account, and I'm being re-assigned to yours. But I'd like to get a raise before I start on your business. Cool?"
I would be like, "Fuck you, Pat. You just lost your account. Show me what you can do on my account for a year before you ask for a raise. So far, all I've seen you do is lose an account."
Then I would quietly do everything I could to keep you from getting onto my account.
Not sure what your rationale for a raise would be. Unless this new role comes with more responsibilities
Are you new to the team or to the agency? If new to the agency, especially, your opportunity to negotiate salary was a few months ago when you accepted the offer.
I generally agree with MS’s first sentence - you have little leverage negotiating at your current agency. period.
I disagree with the second sentence - the fact that they didn’t lay you off means you’re liked/seen as valuable.
Adding more background info here - new to the team for a few mos before we were told that we lost the account
@ACD1 - whole team is being transitioned into different accounts.
@Strategist1- possibly being moved to an account with extremely high turnover (average span on the account is 3-8 mos), more responsibility and accountability, account is known for its highly toxic team environment.
Absolutely not. I believe it would make you look like you aren’t aware of basic business indicators. Can it be done? Sure. I wouldn’t be too thrilled as above mentioned because typically we saved your job.
If you want more money then look elsewhere.
How’s the agency doing financially? Are they loaded or did they have to let people go after losing the account?

You can ask, the worst they can do is say no
